RED Episode #130: Run with the Dark Side We Have Coffee 5K, Chili Avocado Citrus Bowl from The Healthspan Solution, and Momentum & Grumpy Goat Coffee Collabs
RUN
First, our coach, Jeff Galloway, has a great new podcast out. You Can Do It is a collaboration between Jeff and his son, Westin, to chronically Jeff’s incredible career as an Olympian and America’s coach. Thanks to Wendel from the runcation nation for sharing it with everyone. Check it out on your next long run!
This week, we ran a 5K for a great cause, Stand Up To Cancer. The Come To The Dark Side, We Have Coffee 5K combines one of our favorite movies AND our favorite morning beverage! We talk about our experience running this virtual 5K. The swag included a bib, a well-themed finisher’s medal, and even a t-shirt, too! It made the running experience better to know that we could support a great organization while celebrating the theme of coffee and Star Wars.
All of this was brought to us by the I Run for Movement virtual races website. They have a variety of themes from Back to the Future to World’s Okayest Runners Club and the Turtle Running Team, too. This website has a whole host of virtual races with swag but even better, each one is connected to a great organization like Stand Up To Cancer, Feeding America, and First Responders Children’s Foundation. Check it out because in this time, when 2020 seems to be the year of the virtual, you can get some great bling and support some great causes.
EAT
This week we wanted to discuss another tasty recipe we discovered in The Healthspan Solution that will help us stay on track with our training. Labor Day is usually the unofficial end of summer. There is a refreshing salad in the book that has helped us stay cool in this unforgiving Florida heat and humidity. it is called the Chili Avocado Citrus Bowl. The dressing has hints of barbecue flavor in the dressing and the layers of texture with the spring mix, the creamy avocado, tangy pomegranate, and juicy citrus are perfect for an outdoor holiday cookout this holiday weekend or as a filling lunch during the week.
We featured The Healthspan Solution on episode 108 and 109 as well when we were lucky enough to talk with authors Julieanna Hever and Ray Cronise. It has become a cornerstone of our cooking at home.
The Healthspan Solution has great recipes that are plant-based and flavorful! And you can absolutely add protein while increasing the nutrient-dense content in your meals without sacrificing flavor.

DRINK
Momentum Brewhouse and Grumpy Goat Coffee collaborated to bring us two great special release beers. This week, we taste Thigh Highs, which combines Momentum’s Knee Highs Imperial Red and Grumpy Goat’s Colombian Dark Roast Coffee. Plus, Pierce’s Pale infused with a Blonde Roast from this local team. A lighter and a darker offering to try. Momentum partners with local food trucks as well and always lets us know when they are stopping by and a great food and beer pairing to try. Cheers to this great collaboration between Momentum Brewhouse and Grumpy Goat Coffee.
THAT’S A WRAP!
