This week, we asked what you’d like to see and hear on our show in 2021.  Part of your feedback to us was that you’d like us to share some pre-race meals and breakfasts that we enjoy or that we have on a regular basis.  This week, we present to you a staple in our house:  Cold Soaked Oats.  We love this recipe because it’s make-ahead friendly, travels well, is filling, and an easy healthy breakfast to get us started right.  It is great pre-run or on a rest day.  Actually, any day this is a go-to for us.

Cold Soaked Oats

Combine the following ingredients into sealed storage containers (Tupperware or something like it) overnight in the refrigerator:

1/2 Cup Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats

1 Cup Vanilla Almond Milk

Top just before eating with:

1 Tablespoon Flax Seeds

1 Tablespoon Chia Seeds

1Tablespoon Cocoa Nibs

1/4 Cup Raw Almonds

DRINK 

Eric Greenspan is a renowned chef often featured on Food Network.  This week, we take his recipe for a spin: Chili Mango-Agua Fresca.  It combines the fruity flavor of the mango with the slight warmth of chili powder.  Easy to make and non-alcoholic, it is a refreshing beverage to hydrate pre-workout or after a workout or just to put in a fancy glass and feel like you are having a cocktail when you are not.  Or, you could transform this beverage into an adult version by adding that shot of tequila.  We even talk about using different ingredients depending on what fruit and spice you like.
