RED Episode #139: Friendly Neighborhood Run 5K and Splitsville in Orlando
RUN
It’s time to recap a Friendly Neighborhood Run from Medal Chasers. This 5K supports the Pinky Swear Foundation. This foundation helps kids fighting cancer and their families with financial and emotional support. The weather was humid, but the setting we chose for this virtual race gave us the chance to run at Epcot around the World Showcase. We decided to walk it and enjoy people watching and seeing the beautiful view of the water around the showcase. The medal is a spiderweb and Spider-Man is on a spinner, upside down, and getting ready to cast a web. It was a great way to get some miles in away from home.
We talked during this episode about some of the components of our training program with America’s coach and Olympian, Jeff Galloway. Find. out more about his run-walk-run training at www.JeffGalloway.com.
EAT
We are so happy that Splitsville is open again in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It is the best place for sushi at Disney Springs. We are happy to see these menu items return. The Fantasy Roll is a beautiful roll that showcases salmon, shrimp, and tuna with a kimchee ponzu sauce. The Super Tuna is Ahi, tempura shrimp, cream cheese, tempura flakes, and spicy mayo. The standout was our waiter’s recommendation, Grilled avocado, and Ahi tuna with that kimchee ponzu sauce. His name was Cody and his new addition to this dish, that we have had before, was to add a spicy krab mix. So good!
DRINK
Cody also recommended a frozen drink from the menu at Splitsville called Swampwater. With 151 Rum, this drink could sneak up on you because the lemonade and blue raspberry that create the green swampy color make it sweet and tart but not alcoholic in flavor. We also got the Old Fashioned on their menu and with Old Forrester bourbon, it does not disappoint and is a perfectly balanced cocktail.
